Ontario Homebuyer HST Rebate

Bill 114, the HST Relief Implementation Act, would let the province rebate the Ontario portion of HST on certain newly built homes, worth up to roughly $130,000 for eligible buyers. The government says it lowers purchase costs and spurs construction. Critics ask why it was left out of the original budget and whether average buyers benefit. The bill is currently before the legislature.
